Why learn to be a flight instructor?
Becoming a Certified Flight Instructor is often the preferred career path in aviation for those building time for an airline job or others that simply enjoy teaching the basics of flight. Flight instructing allows to work your own hours, work with a variety of students, and earn valuable experience for any future aspirations in the aviation field. It is also a great way to challenge your abilities and expand your judgment as a pilot.
What kind of airplanes will I be in training? Ground training?
Your training will be in an IFR certified Cessna 172R "Skyhawk" as well as the Cessna 182RG "Skylane", and you will fly primarily in the right seat. Ground training will be conducted with a Certified Flight Instructor, who is eligible to train first time CFI applicants.

You also must hold at least a Commercial pilot certificate with a single-engine land rating as well as an instrument rating, and have a current FAA merdical certificate. There are no specific time requirements, except that you must have logged at least 15 hours in the aircraft make & model that you will take the practical test. You must also pass two written exams (Fundamentals of Instructing, and Flight Instructor Airplane) and the end-of-course practical test (oral and flight exam).
