PILOT RECURRENCY TRAINING

________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Biennual Flight Review

In order for a pilot to remain current and be able to exercise flying priviliges, he/she must receive a biennual flight review every 24 calendar months. A biennual flight review, or BFR, consists of a minimum of at least 1 hour of flight time and 1 hour of ground instruction with a Certified Flight Instructor. The actual amount of time necessary for the BFR is dependent on amount of total hours flown, time since last flown, aircraft familiarization, and is determined by the CFI and the pilot seeking the flight review. The flight and ground portions are tailored to your specific rating and needs, and the topics covered will be consistent with whatever rating or license you hold.

Scheduling a BFR at Lumanair is easy, an instructor will work with you one-on-one to determine the length of the flight review and what areas you would like to refresh yourself on, generally the BFR can be completed in as little as a couple hours.

Instrument Proficiency Check

If flying under IFR, in addition to the BFR, a pilot must log 6 instrument approaches, a hold, and navigational aid tracking within the preceding 6 calendar months in order to remain current. If the instrument procedures aren't logged in the first 6 months, the pilot has another 6 months to log the approaches with a safety pilot. However, if it has been over 12 months since your last instrument approach logged, you must complete an Instrument Proficiency Check with a Certified Flight Instructor. The IPC is similar to the BFR in required minimum time and is divided into flight and ground segments.

In scheduling an Instrument Proficiency Check at Lumanair, an instructor will work with you to determine the length of the instrument check and areas of operations to review. You can finish an IPC in as litle as one morning or afternoon, and you will again be current as an instrument pilot.

WINGS Program

Have soaring fuel costs or poor weather kept you grounded?

Take advantage of lower fuel prices and spring-time weather to participate in the FAA Safety Team's new WINGS Proficiency Program. No longer just an "awards" program, WINGS has been redesigned as an ongoing education and flight training experience. Successful completion of at least the Basic Phase qualifies as your Biennual Flight Review (and may qualify for reduced insurance premiums. Also, for those wishing to advance their training, Advanced and Master levels are available.

Not sure how the program works? No problem! Our qualified and experienced instructors will guide through the process from setting up your profile online, to helping you select the courses best suited to your needs, and to providing the professional, quality training you expect from Lumanair.

Aircraft/Night Currency

Lumanair also offers recurency training for pilots who fly at night and carry passengers, as well as those looking to get more experience flying a specific aircraft within our fleet.

Time Building

Looking to build time in a specific aircraft in a short amount of time? Lumanair offers training and block rate accounts for pilots wanting to log PIC time for a new job, more experience, or just for fun.
